The Runaway King

The Runaway King By: Jennifer Nielsen

Jaron is now the king.  But his life has been threatened and his council is agreeing that he should not be the one in charge. To protect the ones he loves and prevent the war that is coming, he decides that he will disappear and find the pirates that have come after him.  He goes in disguise as a petty thief, but finds it hard to keep his identity hidden from those around him.  He finds that being around the pirates is not an easy thing

This is the second book in the Ascendance Trilogy and it does not disappoint.  Jaron shows that even though he is king he is having a hard time adjusting from being gone for years. He also knows what he has to do to keep his country and people he cares about safe.  He is not afraid of danger, and in the end just wants to be the king his father would have valued. This is a great series.

I borrowed this from the public library
