Emma learned that she is a Half-Breed human and mermaid. She now knows that her mother is the Poseidon princess that has been missing since WWII.  She is trying to come to terms with this when her mother kidnaps her because she is afraid that the Syrena people think she killed her mate.  But when her mother heads back to sort out where she went missing to Emma is told to stay out of the water, but the forces that be make bring her right into it and she must prove that she does in fact hold the Gift of Poseidon.

A great teen dram read.  Emma and Galen want to be together but she is not acceptable to the Syrena people until she proves that she has the gift that another is lying about.  This is the sequel to the book Of  Poseidon, and you do not have to read that one but it would help explain the back story.
