Prisoner B-3087 By: Alan Gratz
This is the story of Jack Gruener. Jack was 10 when his family was taken by the Nazis to a concentration camp. He spent six years in ten different camps, and witnessed the horrors of being a Jew during the Holocaust. His story is an amazing tale of survival and sadness. It will break your heart and open your eyes to the evil of hatred.
This was a fantastic book. While this story is a work of fiction, it is based on the real life of Jack Gruener. To think that a boy at 10 is taken away from his family never to see them again, and then to survive six years, transfers to different labor camps, watching many of the people around him die or be killed is sad and amazing. Great book, and perfect for I would say mature fifth to eighth grade readers.
I borrowed this from the public library
