We’ll Never Forget You, Roberto Clemente
By: Trudie Engle
This is the true story of the famous Puerto Rican baseball player Roberto Clemente. It follows his life from his young years in Puerto Rico learning to play baseball with a broom handle and a tin can, until his death. It is written for younger readers, at about the 3rrd or 4th grade level. I enjoyed this book because it gave a lot of information about Roberto Clemente while also talking about what the United States was like during the Civil Rights era, and gave Roberto’s view of how differently black people were treated than white people. I enjoyed learning about him and how wonderful of a person he was.
